Marie Valentine

Marie is a Sydney based children’s author. She is a former primary school teacher and leader of learning and wellbeing.

Inspired by years of storytime with her own children, and students in the classroom, she writes humorous and playful stories. She believes laughter is a powerful way to connect children with books and help them discover the joy of reading.

​In 2025, her manuscript Indy the Inventor was shortlisted for the Larrikin House Prize.

Marie is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and part of the Author Pen Pal program.

​​When not writing, she enjoys gardening, making soap, walking her dog Cookie and cruising around in her 1966 Mustang.
